Is there enough research to support effectiveness? |
According to the Child And Adolescent Psychiatric Clinics of North America Journal, 2005; 1-19:14 -
"Five controlled studies have been published, including one Randomized Controlled Trial (RTC) uniformly showing significant benefit for 70% to 80% of participants, with an effect size for EEG Biofeedback equivalent to that of stimulants" |
|
|
"Given the robust effect size of EEG Biofeedback, which repeatedly has been shown to be equivalent to that of stimulant medication, it is easy to forget that the technique simply involves showing the trainee what his or her brain is doing" |
According to the Journal, "EEG Biofeedback meets the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, (AACAP) criteria for 'Clinical Guidelines' for treatment of ADHD, seizure disorders, anxiety (eg, obsessive-compulsive disorder, GAD, post traumatic stress disorder, phobias), depression learning disabilities and addictive disorders . This finding suggests that EEG Biofeedback always should be considered as an intervention for these disorders by the clinician." |
